Sports Awards 2023

South Hunsley hosted its annual Sports Awards Evening on Monday 26 June, paying tribute to the achievements and dedication of our talented student athletes.

The evening event, held in Riding Hall, brought together students, parents and teachers to celebrate a year of remarkable accomplishments across various sports disciplines.

Compered by Mr Duerden and Mr Coulbeck, the awards ceremony recognized achievements from many different categories such as Sports Endeavour Awards, Excellence Awards, Volunteer Awards, Team Achievement Awards, Sports Leadership Awards and many more. Previous Hull City player and South Hunsley alumni Andy Smith also joined us on the night to present the awards along with the PE Department and treated the audience to a Q&A session to find out how he managed to launch his sporting career.

A special moment of the evening was the presentation of the Sporting Inspiration Awards, each of which were dedicated to the memory of South Hunsley students Mason Clarkson-Carter and Tom Dennett and awarded to the boy’s school friends who all took part in charity fundraising events this year.

In addition to individual accolades, the awards evening also recognized exceptional team achievements. The Team of the Year Award went to the Under 13 Girls Football Team for their outstanding performance this year. Awarded with the Team Special Recognition Awards were the Under 14 Girls Football Team, Under 16 Rounders 2022 Team and the Boys and Girls KS4/5 Squash Teams.

At the end of the ceremony, the coveted Sports Personality of the Year Awards were awarded to Jaz (3rd), Grace (2nd) and Stan (1st). These remarkably talented students have consistently displayed exceptional skill, dedication, and leadership qualities throughout their sports journey at South Hunsley School.

We would like to give a special thank you to the PE Department for their commitment to excellence in sports, nurturing and empowering the next generation of sporting champions, and ensuring a bright future for our student athletes.

Finally congratulations to all the winners, you continue to make us proud and we are eager to see where your futures take you.
