This week saw the second instalment of our charity football match and bake sale, following on from the very successful Easter Fair earlier in the year. The event was created to help raise funds for Eckersley House and the Sick Children’s Trust which supports families with a seriously ill child.
Pupils and staff were invited to enjoy a friendly football match in the snow on the 3G pitch alongside a bake sale with a spread of donated cakes, buns and cookies – of which all were sold out completely by the end of the lunchtime break!
Four teams of Year 10 pupils competed for the Clarkson-Carter Cup. All teams played brilliantly in front of a large crowd of their peers and gave their best performance to achieve the win.
The Sick Children’s Trust is the charity that gives families one less thing to worry about by giving them a place to stay, and someone to talk to, free of charge just minutes from their child’s bedside. Eckersley House is one of ten ‘Homes from Home’ locations that supports families from around the UK each year with a warm and comfortable place to stay and a friendly ear to listen.
The event was run in celebration of the life of South Hunsley pupil Mason Clarkson-Carter who stayed at Eckersley House, in the end we raised an incredible £400 which will be donated to the charity.
