South Hunsley School recently played host to the Duke of Edinburgh Award Celebration Evening as pupils were honored for their outstanding achievements in the DofE Award program. The ceremony recognized the dedication and perseverance of pupils who had successfully completed various levels of the prestigious DofE Award scheme, alongside acknowledging their remarkable volunteering efforts.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award, a globally recognized program founded by Prince Philip in 1956, aims to empower young people to challenge themselves, develop new skills, and contribute to their communities. It consists of four key components: volunteering, physical fitness, skill development, and an adventurous journey.
At South Hunsley School, the DofE Award Celebration Evening is a testament to the hard work and commitment demonstrated by participants throughout their DofE journeys.
Throughout the evening, each pupil was presented with a certificate and a DofE pin badge, symbolizing their successful completion of the program and dedication to making a positive impact on their communities.
Pupils took part in a wide number of volunteering activities over the course of their Awards, including litter picking, Brough in Bloom, animal care and much more.
Joining us on the evening to distribute the certificates were Emma Stothard (DofE Representative), Mr Gray (Deputy Headteacher at SHS) and Mr Williman (DofE Ambassador and previous Headteacher of SHS).
The ceremony also provided an opportunity to recognize the unwavering support and guidance provided by teachers, DofE leaders, and volunteers who played a pivotal role in helping pupils reach their goals. Thank you to all on behalf of South Hunsley and the Duke of Edinburgh Award program.
