First Annual Pupil Leadership Summit

The first Pupil Leadership Summit held by The Education Alliance took place this term, providing young leaders from 9 trust schools an opportunity to strengthen their knowledge of leadership and learn how to apply this in their day to day.

The event was developed with collaboration and networking in mind, allowing pupils across schools and ages to share ideas and good working practices.

The day began with an ice-breaker quiz, plus refreshments and a goodie bag for attendees, followed by a welcome message by Scott Ratheram from The Education Alliance.

The pupils were then joined by guest speaker Jo Brassington, co-creator of wellbeing picture book Bottled and co-founder of inclusivity online space Pride & Progress. Jo identifies as non-binary and spoke with the group about their personal experiences as an educator, sharing stories that helped shape who they are and the work they do today.

The remainder of the day saw a series of workshops for the young leaders to take part in, covering topics Leadership Skills and Celebrating Diversity ran by TEAL colleague Richard McDonald and guest speaker Jo Brassington.
