Congratulations to Year 13 student, Bethany D, who has achieved the Bangor Merit Scholarship with Bangor University.
Bethany is studying A Level German, English Literature and Geography as well as completing the ECDL qualification at South Hunsley Sixth Form and is looking to take a degree in German alongside Philosophy, Ethics and Religion. To support her application Bethany volunteers in Year 7 German classes at school, also helping younger students to expand their knowledge and vocabulary, whilst also being an active member of South Hunsley Student Union.
Earlier this year, Bethany visited Bangor University in Wales and entered the Bangor Entrance Scholarships Scheme. There are approximately 40 Merit Scholarships, of up to £3,000, awarded to those who excel in the University’s annual entrance scholarships exam. Applicants have to complete a scholarship application form and sit an exams in the subject of their choice. Bethany sat a German exam which involved completing a range of translation tasks and questions.
After completing the process, Bethany was delighted to receive confirmation from the University that she had been awarded a Bangor Merit Scholarship on the basis of her excellent overall performance.
Bethany has demonstrated great commitment to her studies and her school life, and this is a well-deserved accolade. We wish her the best of luck as she officially begins her scholarship in September 2022.
