We are delighted to hear that Year 12 student, Reeya P, has been appointed as a Head Member of the Youth Parliament in the West Constituency.

Reeya has always had a keen interest in politics and current affairs and has continued with this whilst studying A Level’s in History, Politics and Psychology in the sixth form. Being aware of these interests, Miss Phillips, Reeya’s politics teacher, encouraged her to apply for the opportunity to become a member of the Youth Parliament and supported her through the process. Applicants were tasked with creating a compelling campaign and presenting this to the Board of Trustees. 10 candidates participated in the election and with over 2000 votes cast, Reeya was successful, gaining 469 votes.

As a Head Member of the Youth Parliament, Reeya is responsible for finding out the concerns and needs of other young people in her constituency, and representing these views to decision-makers on a local, regional, and national level. Reeya will meet with MPs and local councillors, organise events, run campaigns, make speeches, hold debates, and ensure the views of young people are heard.
