South Hunsley Sixth Form hosted the first instalment of the newly formed Tom Dennett and Jack Stabler Memorial Cup football match against Driffield School, kicking off on Thursday 30 March.
A team of students from each school went head to head to win the coveted Cup in front of a busy crowd of supporters watching from the side-lines.
The game was held in honour of students Tom Dennett and Jack Stabler, both of which were students at their respective schools and tragically passed away unexpectedly last year. Tom was a keen sportsman and football fan, so many of his former schoolfriends and teammates from Sixth Form joined to face a strong Driffield School’s under 19s side in the charity match held on the 3G Pitch.
At the end of the match the final score came to 1-1, meaning both schools will share the Memorial Cup.
As well as the match, Tom’s friends are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on 31 May 23, raising funds for the Thomas Dennett Memorial Fund. Their GoFundMe page can be found here: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/toms-friends?utm_term=mMgD4AQKq
Thank you to all who came to support or helped with organising the event.
